The Moncton Miracles were back home at the Moncton Coliseum tonight taking on the Saint John Mill Rats for the second night in a row in this home-and-home series. The starting line up for the Miracles were Kason Cheeks, Tom Granado, James Justice, Brandon Kearney, and Dexter Strickland.
The Miracles came out and opened the game strong as Tom Granado comes out and hits a big three, followed by another three by Dexter Strickland. The Miracles from this point let the Mill Rats go on a 11-0 run to bring the game to 11-6 with just under 6 left in the first. The Miracles gave a warm welcome to the newest member of the Miracles Gary Gibson as he checked into the game for the first time. At the end of the first quarter the Mill Rats had a lead of 22-19.
James Justice was out to make an impact tonight and it showed as he brought a lot of energy and scoring as he pulls up for a three halfway through the second. Tydran Beaty was flying high as he crams home the big two handed jam. At the end of the first half the Miracles trailed the rats 51-40.
The Miracles came out after half with some fire as they went on a 7-0 run early in the third. Brandon and James both were hitting from behind the deep line. Tom Granado cuts the lead to 8 with 2:14 left in the third. At the end of the third quarter the Miracles trailed 75-69.
Beaty was hot coming out of the break as he opens up the scoring with a three. The Miracles start to crawl there way back and only trail by 6 with 7:45 left to play. At this point James Justice is taking over and cuts the lead to just 2 points with 6 minutes left to play. Tydran Beaty with a big three to give the Miracles their first lead since they went 6-0 at the start of the first quarter. The nail biter continues as Justice drives through the lane for two. The Mill Rats had a chance with 7.2 seconds left but they failed to inbound the ball in time and turn the ball over to seal the deal for the Miracles.
Leading the way for your Miracles was Tydran Beaty with 27 points. Brandan Kearney had 22 points and nine rebounds while Tom Granado scored 13 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile Saint John had five players scoring in double digits. Gabe Freeman was the high scorer with 17 points adding in 13 boards and two assists.
